Food was made to order, it took a little bit of time but worth the wait. Owner came out to chat with us. Will definitely come back and try other things on the menu.
It's an adventurte in culinary taste. Delicious food and interesting tea (Tibetan butter tea).
The food here was so great, especially the Yak Momo. They also have great vegan options. The owners were very friendly and helpful in giving menu suggestions.
Drove an hour to eat here, and it was closed, yet the FB pg and google said it was open. Ended up eating at the Chinese restaurant across the street and they said himalaya restaurant is always closed and never opens!!!! Really why advertise it....
I never write reviews but this place deserves one.The staff is friendly and the chef is incredibly talented. Food is also very unique but I feel like I would enjoy everything on the menu. The prices are also very reasonable
Food is very average
The food was fresh and tasty. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Excellent ambience!
Love the food here & staff is so friendly & helpful. Be patient with the time it takes to make the food; it’s worth the wait!
Everything was delicious and the owner and his wife were very friendly. We loved the vegetable momos, Himalayan thali, and beef soup with handmade noodles (can't remember the name). This restaurant is great for vegans, vegetarians, or meat lovers and they cook with all natural ingredients and no artificial flavoring. Excellent!
One of the best places to eat in town. Friendly, cozy and delicious.
Really good food with lots of spices and flavor. There is even options for yak meat, just really pricey and way out of my budget. There seem to be only one person that does cooking and taking orders around lunch time so be prepared to wait a while. Worth the wait.
One of the best restaurants in Amherst. Try the chicken/beef dumplings! The service is also very good.
My wife and I came for a nice dinner and we both felt that the food and service were outstanding. The waiter was very friendly and took the time to explain the dishes, and you could tell that the establishment took pride in their ethnic heritage and food. We'll definitely be back to try more dishes. I hope more people discover this restaurant. We much preferred it over a restaurant with similar cuisine in Northampton.
Please ignore the review by La Campanella. They have copied the same incoherent and false review to the other Tibetan restaurant in Amherst. This place has wonderful food, a warm atmosphere, and the staff/owner were nothing but polite. I had the beef Himalayan curry, and it was excellent. They provide you with other sauces to add flavor and spice to your liking. The decor is lovely, and the tables and benches were handmade by the employees. The prices are quite reasonable for the quantity (though the yak dishes are obviously more expensive). I would highly recommend Himalaya Friends Corner for a comfortable dining experience!
Friendly ownership, cozy accommodations, and fantastically spicy food.
The food was great, well seasoned and fresh in a clean, cozy atmosphere. The mvp of the meal, however, was the chef/owner who was honestly one of the realest dudes my brother and I have ever met. Props to his honesty and passion and free mango lassi. We will return!
Very friendly servers, authentic food.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. They offer a variety of food from northern India, Bhutan, and Tibet - one of the only places around where you can get yak! Definitely try their fried rice - it's a different take on what you might be used to; they use a long grain rice (probably basmati), a richer mix of indo-tibetian spices, and olive oil. (Reposted)
Excellent!
Tried it at the Taste of Amherst. Fresh and delicious curried chicken. Best dish there by far in ethnic foid in my opinion. Worth the money. I'll visit this restaurant for sure!
I had the Himalayan Thali for dinner and ordered Rasmalai for dessert. I asked for a vegetarian curry instead of the chicken curry that's usually present in the thali; they offered me potatoes and beans stir fry- it almost tasted like what I have in Kolkata. The Rasamalai was amazing. The service is great, and ambience is quite nice as well.
The owner is so friendly. The food is delicious, I had the Vegetable Momo, a food I had never had before. It was cheesy dumplings. It was really great, and wasn't expensive either. After I finished the meal, the owner came and chatted with me for a while, and gave me a free dessert!!! This place deserves more customers. It's a little off the main street of Amherst, but it's totally worth the trip there! The atmosphere is cozy. Definitely a place to bring a date. The booths are kind of small, but they have extra chairs to accommodate larger parties.
I absolutely loved the food! Afortable and good quality.
bad service, undercooked momos
Good momos, good place to stop by and get a quick bite for not too much money
Best food in Amherst, period. Service is always amazing and the food is even better. The sauses are so dope
I ordered beef, lamb momos and they are very tasty. I am definitely going back agian! Great food n great service..
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the pioneer valley. I recently spent a summer in a large metropolitan area with lots of food options. The only food from home I missed was the beef momos (type of dumpling) from Himalaya Friend's Corner. The chili chicken (appetizer) and Then Thuk (hand shaved noodles) are also out of this world. The sauces for the momos are probably my favorite aspect of the experience. If you're trying to decide between here and the other Himalayan place in Amherst, I'd recommend Friend's Corner, having eaten at both. Depending on the time of day it's usually a person operation, so don't expect lightning fast service. However, the owner / chef is always super friendly and helpful. Basically, I love this place and I hope it stays here as long as I do.
